The Iraqi Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IRAQMMAF) received recognition from the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Iraq as an election for the federation's Board took place.

During the election, Raad Jameel was elected as President, with Haydar Mahdi elected to the vice-president's role.

Ahmed Jameel was also elected as the secretary, while Salwan Raheem, Mohamad Dawod, Hammen Tahsyn, and Basma Jabar were all confirmed as Board members.

IRAQMMAF hosted the first meeting of its Executive Board to discuss how they could develop coaches and athletes, while they also held a training session led by national wrestling team captain Samir Mahdi.

The IRAQMMAF made their debut in international mixed martial arts at the 2021 World Championships.

They also appeared at the 2022 Asian Championships and World Championships, but have yet to win a medal.

Following this recognition by the NOC, the IRAQMMAF say they have big plans for the future of MMA in Iraq.
