Mexico won their second straight game at the 2023 Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup, defeating Haiti 3-1 to top Group B.

Henry Martín and Santiago Giménez struck for El Tricolor at State Farm Stadium in Glendale as Uriel Antuna starred with two assists.

After a goal-less first half that saw Mexico dominate possession, Martín broke the deadlock immediately after the restart with a thumping header.

Mexico continued to apply pressure and was rewarded when a Jesús Gallardo was deflected in for an own goal by Ricardo Adé.

Haiti did not sit back after going two goals down as Danley Jean pounced to make it 2-1 from a corner kick in the 78th minute.

But five minutes later, a neat finish from Giménez ended the Haiti celebrations and hopes of a comeback.

Alberth Elis of Honduras denied Qatar a win with a goal in the dying moments in the other Group B match.

It took only seven minutes for Qatar to find the back of the net when Tameem Al-Abdullah headed in from a Mostafa Mashal cross from the left.

The Middle Eastern nation, known for their defence, sat back for most of the remaining  minutes hoping to seal the victory.

It forced Honduras to try long range efforts with Elis coming close in the second half.

But six minutes into added time, Jose Pinto whipped a cross in from the left that was headed down by Rubilio Castillo.

Elis was the quickest to react, lobbing the ball to make it 1-1 with the final kick of the game.
