Reigning Olympic and world champions Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway won the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite16 men's event in Ostrava.

The latest win in the Czech Republic means the duo now have 10 medals in the Beach Pro Tour, including a record six golds.

Mol and Sørum defeated Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan of Qatar in the final.

The Qataris, who won bronze at Tokyo 2020, did not start well but won the second set as the game went to a decider.

However, the Norwegians regained control to emerge victorious 21-15, 19-21, 15-12.

Mol's blocking game was sensational in the final, earning him six of his 28 points while his compatriot finished with 19.

"This means everything! It’s so special to play here in Ostrava, in front of all these amazing people," said Mol.

"I also want to thank my partner.

"He did a great job today.

"The Qatar boys really gave us a super strong match.

"They hit around my block every single ball, so it was really, really tough and we are just super happy. Thank you so much to the organizers for bringing out this event, because it’s one of the greatest events of the year and we hope to play here for the next 10 years at least..."

Miles Partain and Andrew Benesh of the United States settled for the bronze medal.

The defeated home favourites Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner, to win their second medal on the Beach Pro Tour.

The Czech duo could not make the most of the fantastic crowd and had an error-prone match.

Partain and Benesh won 21-14, 21-17 to upset the fourth seeds despite Schweiner finishing as top scored with 18.

"It feels great!" said Partain.

"It was such a miracle to qualify and then just being able to break pool and just play one point at a time... Thank god for it because qualification was really difficult.

"We had pretty much already lost and somehow we were able to come back."

In the women's event, Brazilians and reigning world champions Eduarda Santos Lisboa and Ana Patricia Ramos came out on top for their third gold medal in the Tour.

They defeated Terese Cannon and Sarah Sponcil of the United States 17-21, 21-14, 15-12.

Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson won bronze after a tense match.

They got the better of fifth seeds Nina Brunner and Tanja Huberli of Switzerland 21-16, 21-14.
