Denmark created history by becoming the first team to win the International Handball Federation (IHF) Men's World Championship title for the third consecutive time by beating France.

Denmark denied Olympic champions France their seventh world title by defeating them 34-29 at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm.

Two players stood out for the Danes in their sensational victory.

Rasmus Lauge Schmidt bagged 10 goals to his name while teammate Simon Pytlick bagged nine.

Denmark are now on a 28-game unbeaten streak.

Rookie left back Simon Pytlick also shined for Denmark, delivering three goals in his first final of a major competition.

The champions took an early 6-2 lead, that set the tone for the rest of the game.

They then went on to establish a five-goal lead at 12-7 after 15 minutes.

But France reduced the deficit to one goal at the break at 16-15.

However, Denmark bounced back to take a three-goal lead once again at 20-17.

While France tried their best for another comeback, the Danes prevailed comfortable in the end.

Meanwhile, Spain came back against co-hosts Sweden to win the bronze medal in style.

They registered a 39-36 win for the third place, setting a new scoring record for a bronze-medal match at the World Championship.
