Sweden, France, Spain and Denmark qualified for the semi-finals of the 2023 International Handball Federation (IHF) Men’s World Championship today.

Spain edged Norway in a nail-biter to set up a clash with Denmark, who beat Hungary.

Co-hosts Sweden defeated Egypt and will face France, who got the better of Germany in the quarter-finals.

Spain overcame Norway 35-34 after extra time, in what was the most thrilling fixture of the day.

Angel Fernandez was the best player on the pitch for Spain, scoring eight times.

Meanwhile, their semi-final opponents Denmark registered an easy 40-23 win.

The victory means the Danes have now reached the last-four stage of the event for the seventh consecutive time.

The reigning champions are currently on a 26-game unbeaten streak as their golden generation continued to impress.

Mathias Gidsel has scored 50 goals in the tournament so far and was rightly named best player today, with nine goals to his name.

Sweden beat Egypt 26-22, to clinch their second consecutive semi-final berth.

Goalkeeper Andreas Palicka was the best layer for the co-hosts, with a 48 per cent save efficiency.

France reached the semi-final after a stunning second-half performance that saw them beat against Germany 35-28.

The Olympic champions also had goalkeeper Remi Desbonnetto to thank as he made 11 second half saves to help them with the result.
