A field of 92 lugers from 15 countries is set to compete.

Racing begins with doubles tomorrow  which could produce a superb contest between the German riders.

In the men’s event Germany’s Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken sprung a shock last week when they defeated their compatriots three-time Olympic champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt.

They were impressive in the early training runs at Park City before the Tobis also produced an express run to equal that produced by Eggert and Benecken.

The women’s doubles features Austria's Selina Egle who partnered Lara Michaela Kipp to doubles victory at Innsbruck.

They will face competition from Italy’s Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer who won in Canada and have improved their times in each training run.

The men’s singles is also scheduled for tomorrow and features double Olympic singles gold medallist Felix Loch of Germany.

His last Olympic gold came back in 2014, but last week he recorded his 50th FIL World Cup race win on the Whistler track where he had won his first Olympic title in 2010.

On Saturday (December 17), Austria’s Olympic silver medallist Madeline Egle goes into action.

Egle has been the pace-setter on the circuit so far in women's singles, with victories in all three races.

The Olympic champion Natalie Geisenberger is missing this season after she became pregnant.

There is free entry to all events for spectators.
