Madeleine Egle continued her brilliant start to the Luge World Cup season in Whistler, making it three wins from three.

The Austrian was second at the halfway stage, but then produced the fastest run of the day - 38.495sec - to win by 0.024.

World champion Julia Taubitz from Germany was second and Merle Fräbel third.

Nineteen-year-old Fräbel led after run one and this is the Youth Olympic champion's maiden World Cup podium.

In the men's singles, Felix Loch set a new course record en route to a 50th World Cup win.

Loch clocked 49.798 on the same Whistler Sliding Centre course that produced his first Olympic gold medal at in 2010.

"It was a perfect day - two top starts, two top runs," said Loch

Austria's Wolfgang Kindl was 0.034 back in second place and Italy's Dominik Fischnaller third.

With the maximum 300 points, Egle now has a 75-point lead over Taubitz in the women's singles standings.

Kindl is the men's leader, with 255 points versus compatriot Nico Gleirscher's 246.

Loch, who missing the sprint in Innsbruck last time out, is up to seventh on 126.
