Russia and Belarus are competing as neutrals under the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) flag following the invasion of Ukraine.

The FIAS chose not to suspend the two countries completely, with Russia frequently excelling at sambo events.

It was no different here, as Anastasia Barabash got the flurry underway in the under-47-kilogram class before Kristina Dudina and Anastasiia Trofimova won the under-50kg and under-54kg titles.

Milena Khilova followed up in the under-65kg division and Insanat Zairbekova experienced glory in the under-72kg group.

Veronika Saraeva and Ekaterina Soloveva rounded off the dominance in the women's event with triumphs in the under-80kg and over-80kg categories.

Meanwhile in the men's youth events, Vagram Sargsian and Denis Fedotov topped the podium as Russian neutrals in the under-58kg and under-98kg divisions.

Uladzislau Norka, who represented Belarus as a neutral, tasted success as the winner of the under-79kg class.

Athletes from Armenia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan picked up the other gold medals.

Robert Simonyan fired Armenia to glory in the under-53kg group while Batdavaa Batkhuyag achieved gold for Mongolia in the under-64kg category.

Adilet Akhmetgali came out top at under-71kg for Kazakhstan and Artur Sansyzbekov triumphed for Kyrgyzstan at under-88kg.

Makhmudjon Makhsudov of Uzbekistan won the over-98kg title to close out the day.

The Championships are due to conclude tomorrow.
