Tokyo 2020 Paralympic silver medallist Fabrizio Cornegliani of Italy won the men’s H1 time trial gold at the 2022 Para Cycling Road World Championships in Baie-Comeau in Canada.

The 53-year-old crossed the finish line in 47min 41.46 sec.

South Africa’s Nicolas Pieter du Preez, who beat Cornegliani to gold in Tokyo, came in second 1:13.36 later to take silver while Maxime Hordies of Belgium took bronze in 50:17.03.

The men’s H2 time trial saw Spain’s Sergio Munoz Garrote win the title in 33:31.07.

Florian Jouanny of France and Italy’s Luca Mazzon bagged silver and bronze in 33:47.40 and 34:00.61 respectively.

Italy came out on top in the men’s H3 time trial thanks to Paolo Cecchetto who took gold in 31:42.13.

Canadian Charles Moreau came in 13.8-0 later to win silver before Cecchetto’s compatriot Mirko Testa clinched bronze in 32:13.93.

Katerina Brim took gold in the women’s H2 time trial in 20:46.00 in what was  a two-person race.

The women’s H3 time trial belonged to Annika Zeyen of Germany.

The Tokyo 2020 gold medallist who was also crowned wheelchair basketball champion at London 2012 cruised to victory in 36:00.88.

Italy’s Francesca Porcellato and Brazilian Jady Martins Malavazzi won silver and bronze in 36:16.78 and 38:06.23.
