North Korea can play at London 2012 despite World Cup ban

north_korea_v_japan_16-09-11September 16 - FIFA has clarified that North Korea's women's football team can compete at the London 2012 Olympic Games despite not being able to qualify for the next World Cup as sanctions placed on the country after some of its players tested positive for banned substances are meant to apply only to that competition.



ITU President visits earthquake-ravaged Tōhoku Region

Casado_in_Shichigahama1_-_credit_Satoshi_Takasaki_JTU_15-09-11September 16 - Marisol Casado, President of the International Triathlon Union (ITU), was the first International Olympic Committee (IOC) member to visit the devastated area of Shichigahama, Miyagi in Japan after it was hit by the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in March this year, with the 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Yokohama set to take place this weekend.
