From today, Tuesday 2 July, until next 7 July, 24 teams will be competing for the last tickets to Paris this summer. The competition will take place in four venues: Valencia (Spain), San Juan (Puerto Rico), Athens (Greece) and Riga (Latvia). Only the champion of each venue will secure a place at the Olympic Games.

Basketball concludes the pre-Olympic tournaments in all sports. This is the last chance to qualify for the final stage of the Paris 2024 Games. While some teams, such as the USA with its new 'Dream Team' featuring the ambitious LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, are already enjoying the last few weeks of preparation, or France, who are expecting Victor Wembanyama to make his Olympic debut at home - a real draw for fans - other teams are still fighting to qualify. Serbia, for example, have confirmed Nikola Jokic's return to the national team. However, some teams may miss out this week.

The last chance to secure a place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games runs from today, 2 July, until 7 July. There are four places up for grabs, one in each of the venues hosting this final pre-Olympic tournament: Valencia (Spain), San Juan (Puerto Rico), Athens (Greece) and Riga (Latvia). In each city, six teams will compete in two groups of three for a place at Paris 2024.

Spain, the reigning European champions, have not yet secured their place, nor have Slovenia, whose Luka Doncic will be another highlight of the tournament. Greece, with Giannis Antetokounmpo, a tough and resilient team, must finish the job. Lithuania, with Domantas Sabonis leading a young but typically Eastern European side, also haven't secured their place.

At least one of these two European NBA stars, Luka Doncic or Giannis Antetokounmpo, will miss Paris 2024. Slovenia and Greece are competing in the same pre-Olympic tournament. Spain will also be fighting for their place from Tuesday.

Greece and Slovenia, semi-finalists at Tokyo 2021, will play their qualifying tournament in Athens from Tuesday to 7 July. They will be joined by New Zealand, Croatia, Egypt and the Dominican Republic. Only one of these teams will win one of the four tickets to Paris 2024.

Another qualifier will take place in Valencia, where Spain will meet Lebanon, Angola, Finland, Poland and the Bahamas. Spain have not missed the tournament since 1996. They will be favourites against Finland, who will be without star forward Lauri Markkanen (Utah).

In Riga, Latvia, who finished fifth at the last edition, will be fighting for another ticket against Georgia, the Philippines, Brazil, Cameroon and Montenegro.

Finally, in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean team will be pitted against Mexico, Côte d'Ivoire, Lithuania with NBA star Domantas Sabonis, Italy and Bahrain.

The winner of each of these four pre-Olympic tournaments will join the eight countries that have already qualified: France (who host), Germany, Serbia, the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia and South Sudan, who qualified by playing in the World Cup.

The format is as follows: The first and second placed teams in each group will meet in the semi-finals for a place in the Grand Final, with only the winners of each venue qualifying for the next Olympic Games.

The group matches in the men's pre-Olympic tournament will be played on 2, 3 and 4 July, with the semi-finals on Saturday 6 July and the final on Sunday 7 July. The four teams that will complete the Olympic group in Paris will be decided during these crucial days.
