"Jersey Day" in Germany promotes sports clubs ahead of Paris 2024

Today is the so-called Jersey Day" in Germany. This special day is supported by the German Olympic Sports Confederation DOSB, all sports associations and sports clubs in Germany. This day is being held for the second time after its premiere last year.

The aim of the Jersey Day is to make German sports clubs visible to the public under the solgan #Trikottag!". Forty five before the start of the Summer Olympics in Paris, this is also an opportunity to give sports other than football a stage.

Club members are called upon to wear their clubs' jerseys, tracksuit jackets or T-shirts for a day. Photos can be posted on social media under the hashtag #Trikottag to make the clubs even more visible.

DOSB President Thomas Weikert said, "The Jersey Day is a wonderful occasion to present your own sports club and to say thank you. Sports clubs are places of social cohesion, they are a way to make friends, do sports together and do something good for your own health." Weikert himself is a member of the table tennis club. There are around 86,000 sports clubs in Germany.

Last year, "Jersey Day" was celebrated for the first time. Many celebrities from politics, media, business and culture also took part. The German Olympic team for Paris 2024 will receive their jerseys and all Olympic clothing from July 2nd at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center.
