Taekwondo Canada has announced that the 2024 Canada Open was the most successful international event ever hosted by the organisation. More than 800 athletes from 41 countries competed in the three-day event, which took place from 8 to 10 February in Vancouver, British Columbia, MASTKD reports.

Highlights of the weekend included over 250 poomsae athletes competing for gold medals, while over 600 kyorugi athletes battled for supremacy in the cadet, junior and senior categories over the three-day event. Held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, more than 1,000 fans attended each of the three days of competition, with UpTKD providing live streaming. "The 2024 Canada Open was a huge success for Taekwondo Canada. The support we received from the more than 800 athletes from over 41 countries was unparalleled," stressed Dave Harris, Executive Director of Taekwondo Canada. "We would also like to thank and acknowledge the tremendous partnerships we have formed with the Government of Canada, the City of Vancouver, the Province of British Columbia and our many corporate partners who ensured that the G2 event was one of the premier taekwondo stops on the Pan American Tour this year," concluded Harris.
