Emirati athletes won 10 medals in the Chinese city this month - four golds, three silvers and three bronze.

It saw them top the medals table in the sport for the second Asian Games in a row after ju-jitsu debuted on the programme in Jakarta and Palembang in 2018.

Khaled Al-Shehi won the men's under-62 kilograms title in Hangzhou where ne-waza, or Brazilian ju-jitsu, was contested.

Faisal Al-Ketbi triumphed in the men's under-85kg and Asma Al-Hosani won the women's under-52kg.

The women's under-63kg gold went to Shamma Al-Kalbani.

Abdel Moneim Al Hashemi, the chairman of the UAEJJF, attended the ceremony at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi to pay tribute to the athletes.

"You are proving once again that you are outstanding ambassadors for UAE sports, serving as role models for future generations and a source of pride and inspiration that will solidify the legacy of exceptional sporting achievements," Al Hashemi, also the President of the Asian Ju-Jitsu Union and vice-president of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation, said.

"Your success is a result of diligence, sacrifices and high performance, bringing joy and happiness to our nation. 

"Your achievements in the Asian Games will further strengthen the UAE's leadership in Asian ju-jitsu. 

"Reaching the summit is challenging, but maintaining it is even more so. 

"We are committed to preparing tirelessly for upcoming championships with greater determination and resolve to write a new chapter of achievements that our nation, its leadership, and its people deserve."

UAE head coach Ramon Lemos was among others to attend the ceremony.

"These achievements were the result of four years of preparation and training," he said. 

"I am confident that the players will continue to be ambitious and work toward achieving more in the future."
