The European University Sports Association (EUSA) Executive Committee has reflected on a "record-breaking summer season" and looked ahead to a historic winter at its meeting in Kuşadası.

The event in Turkey began with EUSA secretary general Matjaz Pecovnik highlighting a successful summer which saw individual European Universities Championships held in 13 different sports.

The Beach Championships and Combat Sports Championships were also held earlier this year.

Pecovnik is hoping to continue the success with the inaugural EUSA Winter Sports Championships which are set to take place in Val di Zoldo from December 18 to 21.

A "very good promise of attendances and all-over quality" was made by Pecovnik for the event.

Preparations for future editions of the various EUSA Championships were also discussed, with the attribution, calendar, and bidding procedures for 2024, 2025, and 2027 events presented by sports manager Miha Sven.

In addition, delegates were updated on several initiatives that the EUSA is taking part in.

"EUSA is engaged in several projects and through its Institute currently leads four EU-funded projects; namely Inclusion in Sport, Enhancing sport organisations and management, European Solidarity Corps – Volunteering and Erasmus+ Youth Mobility," read a EUSA statement.

"In addition, we are partnering in four ongoing projects: Brand Value Alignment through Dual Career, Green Sports Hub Europe, Youth Integrity Ambassador Program and Healthy Lifestyle For All."

EUSA events in Kuşadası are set to continue tomorrow with the General Assembly, the EUSA-FISU strategic dialogue event, and the EUSA Gala and Awards Ceremony.
