Olympic mixed doubles bronze medallist Lin Yun-Ju of Chinese Taipei won the men's singles title at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender in Almaty.

Lin, who missed out on the gold medal last year, defeated Xiang Peng of China in the final on Sunday.

However, it was not the ideal start for the World Championships bronze medallist, who lost the first game 4-11 before winning 12-10, 15-13, 11-9, 11-7

Xiang was a fitting opponent for Lin and troubled the champion in every game.

However, the 20-year-old failed to take advantage when it mattered the most, slipping up on 11-12 during the crucial third game.

Xiang was up 8-5 in game four and looked like he could level before Lin sealed the deal with a clinical performance.

The event in Kazakhstan was otherwise dominated by China, that claimed the women's singles, women's doubles and the men's doubles titles while South Korea triumphed in the mixed doubles final.

Kuai Man clinched the women's singles gold medal, beating compatriot Fan Siqi in the final.

The 19-year-old World Championships bronze medallist triumphed 11-6, 12-10, 11-8, 11-6 with Fan coming close in game two, leading 10-7.

But she too faltered at crucial moments as Kuai celebrated.

Lin settled for silver in the mixed doubles with Chen Szu-Yu as Joo Cheonhui and Cho Daeseong coming out on top in the final.

The South Korean pair, ranked 247 in the world, beat the defending champions 11-8, 11-7, 4-11, 11-6

Xu Yingbin and Lin Shidong helped the Chinese team to men's doubles glory, defeating the South Korean pair of Cho Seungmin and multiple World Championships medallist Lee Sang-su 12-10, 3-11, 11-9, 11-4.

Kuai finished the event with two titles as she teamed up with Chen Yi for the women's doubles gold medal.

They got the better of compatriots Liu Weishan and Fan 12-10, 10-12, 12-10, 11-4.
