The inaugural World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Asian Breaking Championships have concluded in this year's Asian Games host city Hangzhou.

It took place at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Gymnasium, which is also due to host the sport on October 6 and 7, as part of the Games.

A total of 116 athletes from 13 countries and territories participated at the event but it was South Korean Kim Heon-woo and Ayumi Fukushima of Japan that prevailed.

Kim, known as Wing, defeated China's Shang Xiaoyu in the men's final and amassed 55 votes from the judges over seven rounds in total. 

The pair were joined on the podium by another South Korean in the form of Kim Hong-yul after he beat China's Qi Xiangyu in the bronze-medal match.

Fukushima, who goes by her first name in competition, downed compatriot Ami Yuasa in the women's decider.

Prior to that, Jeon Jiye clinched another medal for South Korea as she beat China's Liu Qingyi to third place.

The Championships are seen as a trial for Hangzhou 2022, which is due to run from September 23 to October 8.

Breaking is due to feature at the Asian Games for the first time, prior to its Olympic debut at Paris 2024 next year.
