A total of 10 different nations have won basketball gold at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin.

The culmination of the tournaments finally came on the penultimate day in the German capital after six days of fixtures.

Canada were the first victors in the men's and mixed team competitions as they prevailed in the traditional one final.

Dashawn Williams starred as he scored seven points to help his side beat South Africa 25-13 at the Messe Berlin.

The score was level 6-6 at half time, but 10 and nine-point hauls in the third and fourth periods saw the game get away from South Africa.

India won the next gold medal-match in the category in a low-scoring affair as they downed Portugal 6-3 thanks to points from Avnish Kaundal and Vishal Kiran Babu.

The first women's team competition was the complete opposite as Mali denied Canada a second gold medal.

Badiallo Dicko and Bintou Drame both amassed eight points to propel the side to a 38-23 triumph in the traditional one final before traditional two saw Ireland down Azerbaijan 17-8.

Sweden also spoiled a potential double as they beat India in the women's traditional three by a resounding 24-6 margin.

Lotta Nappi proved to be the driving force in Finland women's unified two triumph against Egypt as she netted nine points, with the score ending 26-16.

Serbia claimed the only other gold in the discipline as they dispatched Ukraine 14-4. 

The men's and mixed unified finals produced three thrilling contests.

Puerto Rico produced a stunning fourth quarter-comeback to beat Saudi Arabia 28-23 in the unified one decider.

The United Arab Emirates then scraped past Chinese Taipei in the unified two fixture 18-15 before Luxembourg recorded a one-point victory against Germany.

Alex Badois Teixeira dominated for Luxembourg with six points as they prevailed 11-10.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow in what is the final day in Berlin with medals due to be awarded in athletics, 3x3 basketball, cycling, and equestrian.
