Meanwhile a trio of new young talents secured places at the circuit’s World Cup final in Hermosillo, Mexico in September thanks to individual victories.

South Korea’s Lim Sihyeon, winner of the recurve women's title, and India’s Prathamesh Samadhan Jawkar, who won the compound men's event, both 19, earned their places.

As did South Korea's 22-year-old Cho Su A, winner of the compound women's competition.

The fourth qualifier was Brazil’s experienced Marcus D’Almeida, who won the recurve men's title.

Lim's victory in the recurve women's event was particularly impressive given her three compatriots in the semi-finals had five Olympic gold medals between them.

Meanwhile in the compound individual events, Jawkar and Cho also upset the formbook to take victories despite their lack of experience.

Only D’Almeida, the 2021 world silver medallist, struck a blow for the experienced archers, the 25-year-old preventing a Korean clean sweep in the recurve events.

But it was still a brilliant first showing of the season for South Korea, who won the recurve men, women and mixed team golds.

In the compound section, the men's team title was won by The Netherlands, with Mexico taking the women's team event and the mixed team gold going to India.

A total of 293 archers from 39 countries competed in the second stage of the 2023 Archery World Cup.

Qualification and eliminations took place at the Yuanshen Sports Centre Stadium from May 16 to 19, followed by finals at the Lujiazui Riverside Promenade from May 20 to 21.

The third stage of the Archery World Cup will take place at Medellin, Colombia from June 13 to 18.
