The Italian Taekwondo Federation (FITA) welcomed a delegation from the Culture and Sports Commission of South Korea.

Angelo Cito, the FITA President, met with Commission counterpart Hong Ihk-pyo, as well as parliamentarians Lee Yong-ho and Kim Yun-deuk.

FITA was congratulated for its strong international results, including Vito Dell'Aquila becoming both the reigning Olympic and world champion in the men's flyweight.

Virtual taekwondo was also discussed with the format due to be part of this year's Olympic Esports Series.

It is now hoped that greater links can be forged between Italian and Korean taekwondo.

"During the meeting, the possibilities of developing cultural exchange programmes between young athletes from the two countries were explored, with the aim of promoting understanding and friendship between the two nations," said FITA.

"President Cito said he was honoured by the visit and excited by the kind words spent on the federation that he is honoured to lead."
