Organisers of next year’s delayed Asian Games in Hangzhou have launched a system that uses artificial intelligence to provide emergency medical support.

Hangzhou 2022 and the Hangzhou Emergency Centre has been cooperating with Zhijiang Lab and other units to jointly develop the "Asian Games Smart Medical Emergency Support System".

Chen Weiqiang, deputy secretary general of HAGOC and Deputy Mayor of Hangzhou City, led a team to assess the medical emergency support work.

The investigation saw the team inspect the negative pressure of ambulances, multiple casualty transfer vehicles, material support vehicles and other equipment.

"Through 5G, IoT, artificial intelligence and other technologies, the Asian Games support system can effectively realise the visualiwation and remote guidance of emergency diagnosis and treatment process, achieving the seamless connection with the 120 emergency system," a Hangzhou 2022 statement announced.

"It also presents the medical support force distribution, treatment and reception based on the real-time conditions of the ‘cockpit’, making it convenient to allocate emergency resources in a scientific and reasonable way."

The system completed its main construction in May and has since been used at many sporting events.

The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 8 2023 after being postponed a year due to COVID-19 restrictions in China.
