Argentina staged a rousing comeback in the Copa América Femenina third-place playoff to beat Paraguay and earn at place at next year's World Cup.

Argentina were a goal down entering the final 15 minutes at Colombian city Armenia's Estadio Centenario.

Yamila Rodríguez started the comeback the in the 78th minute, slipping behind the Paraguay defence to get on the end of a flick-on, race through on goal and dink the ball home.

Paraguayan hearts were broken in the 90th minute when Florencia Bonsegundo scored an accurate free kick from right on the edge of the penalty area.

In their desperate bid to draw level, Paraguay left a gaping hole at the back and Rodríguez took full advantage in added time, making the final score 3-1.

By virtue of finishing third, Argentina have qualified direct to next year's FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Paraguay will now have to go through the gauntlet of the inter-continental playoffs.

Hosts Colombia and defending champions Brazil meet in the Copa América Femenina final tomorrow, having already sealed their places at the World Cup.

Rodríguez leads the Golden Boot race with six goals.
