The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) has opened the application window for its major wheelchair fencing events from 2023 through until 2025, including a World Championships.

Interested parties have been asked to submit bids by August 4 this year, with the 2025 World Championships among the competitions on offer.

Bidders are also sought for Continental Championships in Europe, Asia and the Americas in 2024, serving as a key qualifying opportunity for the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Moreover, hosting rights for the World Cup circuit in the next three years are open to bidders.

Under the bid process, interested parties are required to describe their plans with regards to budgeting, transport, accommodation, media and broadcast, anti-doping and classification.

Major wheelchair fencing events have returned in recent months after disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which included the cancellation of last year's Continental Championships in Europe and Asia as well as several World Cups.

The Americas Championships are due to be held in São Paulo in October and the European Championships in Warsaw from November 29 to December 4 this year, although the Asian Championships in the Chinese city of Hangzhou have been postponed.

Terni in Italy is due to host next year's IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Championships.
