The Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) has adopted a new logo designed to represent the Americas in a refreshed light.

The new logo consists of a competitor performing a taekwondo kick technique, depicted in red, blue and black.

It is a similar concept to the World Taekwondo logo, although the shapes used to create the athlete are different.

The chest and arms in blue are said to represent the humanity and security of taekwondo, while the lower body in red is meant to show strength and passion.

PATU President Juan Manuel López Delgado claimed the rebranding moves the organisation "one more step towards the excellence that we pursue every day".

The Mexican official added: "We will take with pride and in our hearts to every event that we are part of, to every competition, seminar or activity that we organise for all of you, with the firm intention of becoming leaders in every way.

"We can only achieve it together, walking hand in hand, proactively and positively, so that soon we all carry this new logo convinced that we are part of a successful continental union, of our beloved PATU.”

López was elected PATU resident in October 2021 following Ji Ho Choi stepping down.

The Mexican promised to make taekwondo more "accessible to all national associations" upon his election.
