A strong performance from Gyda Westvold Hansen, Sebastian Oestvold, Nora Midtsudstad and Iver Olaussen in the normal hill ski jumping event saw the quartet score 485.2 points.

It gave Norway a 12-second advantage over their nearest rivals Austria heading into the cross-country event, who had achieved a total of 476.5.

The cross-country section of the competition saw four skiers complete a 3.3 kilometre course in a relay.

Midtsudstad and Olaussen were replaced for the cross-country event by Maria Melling and Nikolai Holmboe.

The latter was in pursuit of his third medal of the Games, following cross free gold and sprint silver in the individual cross-country events.

The Norwegian team pulled further clear of their challengers in the cross-country relay, which saw them finish in a winning time of 29min 20.5sec.

Austria preserved their second-place finish, with their cross-country team of Johanna Bassani, Severin Reiter, Witta Luisa Walcher and Erik Engel ending 1:19.3 behind the gold medallists.

The Austrian team had also featured Vanessa Moharitsch and David Haagen, who had competed in the ski jumping section of the event.

Austria had held off the challenge of Italy in the closing stages of the competition.

Annika Sieff, Stefano Radovan, Silvia Campione and Elia Barp had closed the gap to the Austrian squad to 11.5 seconds by the finish, where they crossed the line in 30:51.3.

Their team, which included ski jumpers Jessica Malsier and Mattia Galiani, had to settle for the bronze medal.
