Hammer thrower Hanna Skydan is one of Azerbaijan's best track and field options at Paris 2024, as is Cuban-born triple jumper Alexis Copello, a two-time European champion and eighth at London 2012 (still competing for Cube).

The first international competition of the year will take place in Croatia from10-15 January, and Azerbaijan already has its 28 athletes ready to represent the country in wrestling.

The Nakhchivan Palace hosted an event celebrating the achievements of the year as part of the "Heydar Aliyev Year." The event coincided with the commemoration of the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year and was used to award outstanding youth in the Autonomous Republic in various fields, including sports.

The ceremony was held on 26 December in Buta Palas. It began with the national anthem of the Republic and highlighted the achievements of the athletes, including the nine Olympic licences obtained.

Azerbaijan's women's basketball team has qualified for the 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Paris 2024 to be held in Hong Kong from 17 April 2024.

The President of Azerbaijan met with prominent representatives of the sports community at a ceremony in Khankendi. At the ceremony, awards were presented to the most outstanding athletes.

Between the 5th to 8th and 11th to 13th of December, Sports Management courses were conducted for students in the morning groups of the State Academy of Physical Education and Sports of Azerbaijan.

Months ago, the II Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games were successfully concluded in Belarus with more than 2,200 athletes from 22 countries, including 13 non-members of the CIS, competing for medals in 20 sports during 10 days of competition in 11 cities of Belarus. 

On 27 November 2001, the first issue of the 'Olympic World' newspaper was published as the designated press outlet of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee. Since its inception, 'Olympic World' has focused on the promotion of national sports, the Olympic Movement, and the ideals inherent in the Olympic ethos.

As part of his trip to Bangladesh, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov has met with his Bangladeshi counterpart Zahid Ahsan Russel.

The waters of Mingachevir have served as the testing ground for the Level 1 course held for 17 coaches, with the support of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) and the Olympic Solidarity Fund of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

As part of the Olympic Culture and Education Programme (OCEP) project of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee (NOC), a group of teachers and students from Baku Secondary School No. 36 visited Kazakhstan.
