The 53rd edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by Iberostar came to a close with the medals ceremony, which marked the end of an edition with a record number of countries represented (76) and a record number of participants in an Olympic year (more than 1,100).

After almost two weeks of strong winds and unruly seas which have prevailed for the hundreds of teams and Olympic class sailors who have been training in Mallorca's Bay of Palma, the competitors in the 53rd Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by Iberostar can expect a breezy and sunny opening day on Monday.

The 2023 edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by Iberostar has been awarded the United Nations (UN) Recognition of Carbon Footprint Calculation and Offsetting Certificate, issued by Trueworld. The 2024 edition has added new initiatives as it moves towards its goal of zero impact.

The event includes several awards, the most outstanding of which being th 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award from World Sailing and the Team of the Year award, recognizing teams that embody integrity, ambition, resilience, and resourcefulness.

From November 13 to 18, Málaga will be the venue for the 2023 World Sailing Annual Conference.

The European Sailing Championship is currently underway on the southern coast of Portugal, featuring three Olympic sailing disciplines. Sailors are vying for the coveted ticket to Paris 2024 in dinghy and mixed multihull categories.

The beaches of Vilamoura, in the southern region of the Algarve, serve as the epicenter of the European Sailing Championship 2023, set to culminate on November 13.

The 2025 iQFOiL World Championships are set to take place in the Bay of Aarhus which will mark the first time that Denmark has staged the event.

World Sailing has launched a series of webinars designed to help national sailing organisations, regatta organisers, sailing clubs and individuals improve their sustainability.
