The participants will help FISU to cover competition across all of the governing body's channels.

Contributions will include daily recaps, feature articles, social media content, and television interviews.

Slovenian Miha Trošt, Germany's Annika Saunus, Julieta Boschiazzo of Argentina, and Frenchman Louis Gilles have been selected again after they took part in the programme at the FISU Winter World University Games in Lake Placid earlier this year.

They are set to be joined by Noor Saleha Salem from the Philippines, Brazilian Pedro Consoli, American Miriam Celebiler, India's Netra Venkitasubramanian, Hassan Abdulsalam of Nigeria, Pole Piotrek Przyborowsk, and Croatians Andjela Cegar and Ana Brenčić.

"This is an incredible opportunity," said Cegar.

"I am beyond grateful to have been selected as a Young Reporter for the FISU Games in Chengdu. 

"There are no words to describe the honour and privilege I feel.

"This is a dream come true for me." 

The dozen will be assisted by three mentors – Riccardo Romani from the International Sport Press Association and FISU's Michel Bélanger and Stéphane Jobin.

They will provide the young reporters with coaching, daily assignments, reviews and also lectures.

"We are very happy with the selection.

"It is a good mix of skills and practice, we wanted more digital media students to support our new social media, multimedia and television-driven strategy and we received really good applications covering these areas," said FISU head of media and communications Olivier van Bogaert.

"It is also essential to have journalists of the same age range as our priority target audience, since they are using the same communications tools."

The young reporters will also mix with 12 Chinese young reporters chosen by the Chengdu 2021 Organising Committee.

The Games were originally scheduled for August 2021 but they were postponed to last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A second rescheduling occurred, again down to COVID-19 concerns, which resulted in the current dates.
