Namdev Shirgaonkar has been re-elected as President of India Taekwondo.

The official was returned to the role unopposed for another four year term.

Shirgaonkar, from Maharashtra, holds a black belt in taekwondo and is the secretary general of the Maharashtra Olympic Association.

His re-election comes with India preparing for the World Taekwondo Championships in Azerbaijan's capital Baku, which begin on May 29.

Veena Arora has been confirmed as senior vice-president with P.Socrates named as vice-president.

Amit Dhamal will serve as secretary general with Rajat Aditya Dikshit serving as treasurer.

Gitika Talukdar and Vikas Kumar Verma are additional members of the Executive Committee.

In March, it was announced that a franchise-based Indian Taekwondo Premier League was to launch in the country.

Teams taking part in the competition could represent Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Assam, Delhi, Bangalore, Dehradun, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Chennai and Gujarat, organisers said. 

It is planned that the league will be staged in Delhi next month.
