Lee Yiat Qing clinched the women's 10-metres platform gold to continue Malaysia's undefeated run in the Cambodia 2023 Southeast Asian Games diving events.

The 15-year-old amassed 253.80 points despite only taking up diving this year.

She continues the legacy of compatriot double Olympic medallist Pandelala Rinong who won all five gold medals in the discipline from 2007 to 2017.

"I wasn't expecting much because my difficulty was set low but I just focused on each dive," Lee told Olympics.com following her victory at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh.

"I just shut myself off and just concentrated on my job, so there was no thinking about what was happening nor pressure."

Vietnam's Bui Thi Hong Giang claimed silver with 242.20 points while 228.00 points were enough for Indonesia's Gladies Lariesa Garina Haga to take the bronze medal.

Bui Thi was happy with her performance, "especially since I suffered a wrist injury, which was hurting really bad," she said, as reported by Olympics.com.

"After my last dive I had to immediately get it treated with ice.

"Of course my aim was to get the gold medal, but this is still a good achievement".

Yiat Qing has burst onto the scene and is yet to even compete at the under-21 Malaysia Games.

She has now set her sights on the world's biggest stage but feels next year's event could be too soon.

"Yes, definitely my aim is the Olympics, I'm not sure about Paris yet, but I want to be there in 2028."

Malaysia has won all three diving gold medals so far at Cambodia 2023 following Muhammad Syafiq Puteh's triumph in the men's 3m springboard and Kimberly Bong's in the women's competition in the same discipline.

Diving is set to conclude tomorrow with the men's platform.
