Switzerland’s  Remi Bonnet set the seal on a superb season in men’s vertical racing with victory in Tromsø to add the International Ski Mountaineering Federation World Cup to his world title in the discipline.

Bonnet came home in 21min 24.48sec to win 1:07.16 ahead of Belgium’s Maximilien Drion du Chapois in 22:31.64.

Austria’s Paul Verbnjak was third in 22:52.42.

It was Bonnet's fourth World Cup win in four races in the verticals.

"I had the power to push from the start to the end, I like to be unbeatable during all the season, it is an amazing feeling I hope it will be the same next year," he said.

Emily Harrop of France won the last women's race of the season in 27:20.37.

Sarah Dreier of Austria was 22.57 seconds behind in 27:42.94 and Giulia Murada of Italy came third in 27:55.61.

"I felt good and I liked the time trial format, the first technical part was great, I feel strong in this kind of track," Harrop said.

"This place is amazing, I am looking forward to the individual race."

For Dreier, second place was enough for her to edge out World Champion Axel Gachet Mollaret of France who only finished fifth in Tromsø.

Dreier secured the ISMF World Cup for vertical racing.

She had finished no lower than second in any of the races this season and had won in Schladming last month.

Racing in Tromsø continues on Friday with the individual races (April 14).
