Turkey topped the medals table to delight the home crowd on the final day of the Karate 1-Series A event in Konya.

The host nation led the field with four gold, three silvers, and five bronze medals while Iran and Japan finished second and third, respectively.

The two trailing countries both secured two golds but three silvers to two in Iran's favour gave them the edge.

Gulbahar Gozutok struck gold first for Turkey in the women's under-61-kilograms kumite as she got the better of Ukraine's Viktoriya Vashchyshyn in the final with a 4-2 scoreline.

Japanese karateka Yuki Kujuro shared the third step on the podium with South Africa's Danielle Van Wyk.

The next kumite title for the Turks came courtesy of Fatih Kurt Enes in the men's under-67kg competition after prevailing 5-2.

He was joined by a trio of Iranians, with silver medallist Amir Mehdizadeh and third-placed Hamidreza Esmaeili and Abdollah Valadi making up the podium.

Eren Akkurt recorded a slender victory in an all-Turkish battle in the men's under-75kg final as he downed Faruk Yurur.

Oleksandr Cherniaiev of Ukraine and Iranian Mahdi Shahgol were triumphant in the repechage rounds to claim the bronze medals.

Turkey's final gold medal came in the female team kata as they beat runners-up Iran, while another Turkish team stood alongside Portugal in third place.

The Karate 1-Series A is set to return next month with Richmond-Vancouver hosting the third leg of the season from April 14 to 16.
