Canada and the United States have booked their places into the team event semi-finals at the Pan American Team Badminton Championships in Guadalajara.

The Canadians have been given top seed in the knockout rounds as they ended the group stage at the Centro de Alto CODE Guadalajara with the best record.

They dispatched both Ecuador and El Salvador 5-0 in Group A while amassing a positive points difference of 233.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Michelle Li sealed the crucial third win against Maria Delia Zambrano in the match against Ecuador.

Ecuador pipped El Salvador to the last qualifying spot after narrowly beating them 3-2.

The US scraped past Mexico 3-2 in a crucial opening encounter in Group B before dismissing Argentina 4-1, sealing pole position with a plus 110 points difference.

The hosts then beat Argentina by the same scoreline to set up a quarter-final clash with Ecuador.

Brazil and Guatemala are due to face in the other quarter-final fixture after finishing first and second, respectively, in Group C.

The Brazilians missed out on advancing directly to the final four as their plus 88 points difference was the worst of the three leading group stage sides.

They beat both Guatemala and Peru 4-1 while the Central Americans won their other match 3-2.

El Salvador, Argentina, and Peru now go into another round-robin group to decide positions seven to nine.

Competition is scheduled to continue tomorrow with both quarter-final match-ups, while Peru play both El Salvador and Argentina.
