Real Madrid quashed a potential Al Ahly comeback to beat the Egyptians 4-1 and book their place in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

A stubborn Al Ahly defence kept the UEFA Champions League victors at bay for 42 minutes until Vinicius Junior struck at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The Brazilian latched onto a through ball from compatriot Rodrygo before chipping the ball over Mohamed El-Shenawy to break the deadlock.

The lead was then doubled a minute into the second half.

Rodrygo's shot was parried into the path of Uruguayan Federico Valverde who pulled off a fake shot to cut inside his opponent before slotting it home.

Real could not sit back, however, as Hussein El-Shahat was a constant nuisance in the box.

After 65 minutes he was brought down by Eduardo Camavinga, with Ali Maaloul then tucking away the resulting penalty.

Al Ahly almost equalised moments later, as El-Shahat burst down the right and cut the ball back towards an unmarked Mohamed Afsha twelve yards out, but the forward blazed his first-time effort over the bar.

El-Shenawy kept hopes alive by saving Luka Modric's 87th-minute penalty.

However Rodrygo's chipped finished two minutes into stoppage time took the game beyond doubt before youngster Sergio Arribas put the nail in the coffin with a left-footed effort shortly after.

Real Madrid are now due to face Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal in Saturday's (February 11) final, also in Rabat.

Al Ahly will meet Flamengo of Brazil earlier in the day to decide who will claim third place in the tournament.
