ParalympicsGB has signed a four-year deal with John West Foods as official "protein partner" to the team.

The partnership covers the Paris 2024 Paralympics and runs through to the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics.

"Healthy nutrition is one of the most important aspects of health and wellbeing for athletes," ParalympicsGB chief executive Mike Sharrock explained.

"With John West as our official protein partner for the next four years, we now have protein expertise at hand that will make our athletes go strong and enable us to underline how crucial nutrition is to support a healthy lifestyle."

The British team won 124 medals of which 41 were gold, across 18 different sports at Tokyo 2020.

John West are described as an "official gold partner" and are expected to highlight their "Eat Strong, Go Strong" message.

The company is best known for its seafood range including tinned salmon and tuna.

"As the Paris 2024 Olympics approach, we’re proud to step up and reaffirm our support for positive nutrition as a living legacy for generations to come," John West Foods managing director Paul Stephenson said.

"The physical and mental determination of Paralympians is an inspiration for us all, and in our new partnership with ParalympicsGB we will support the team with natural protein that will help them achieve their goals."

The Paralympic Games are scheduled to begin on August 28 2024.
