The Yemen Olympic Committee (YOC) has agreed to elect a total of 17 new members to its Board of Directors.

The YOC urged eligible candidates to submit their membership nominations by tomorrow (February 7).

The Board of Directors will include a chairman, first deputy, second deputy, secretary-general, financial officer and 12 members.

The National Olympic Committee is planning to hold the elections for the Board of Directors next month but a date is yet to be confirmed.

Since 2014, a devastating Civil War has been taking place in the Middle Eastern nation.

The YOC was founded in 1974 and was recognised by the International Olympic Committee in 1981.

The country made its Summer Olympics debut at Barcelona 1992 and has sent athletes to every edition since.
