Germany occupy all the podium spots after two of the four runs in the two-woman bobsleigh race, going into tomorrow at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Championships in prime position.

Top of the pile are Lisa Buckwitz and Kira Lipperheide, who recorded the best opening run, before finishing the second in a combined time of 2min 16.07sec in St Moritz.

Buckwitz, who won the Olympic gold medal at Pyeongchang 2018 with Mariama Jamanka, is in pole position with new team-mate Lipperheide.

The pair won their first IBSF World Cup race as a team in Altenberg earlier this month.

Buckwitz also won the bronze medal in monobob earlier in the ongoing World Championships.

Kim Kalicki won the European title last year with Buckwitz last year, but this time is with Leonie Fiebig.

They sit second at the halfway point, sitting just 0.05sec behind their compatriots.

Laura Nolte - who beat American Kallie Humphries and Buckwitz to world monobob gold - sits in third with her partner Neele Schuten, 0.14 behind the leaders.

Humphries and her team-mate Kaysha Love, who won leg two of the IBSF World Cup in Altenberg, are just 0.29 behind the overall leaders.

Not to be ruled out are the home favourites Melanie Hasler and Nadja Pasternack of Switzerland, who made up for a below-par first run to record the quickest in run two, sitting 0.66 off the front and still in with a chance of a medal.
