Real Madrid are set to play for a record-extending fifth FIFA Club World Cup title as the competition is due to begin tomorrow and run until February 11.

The upcoming event, scheduled to be played in Morocco, will be the last in the current format which features seven teams in total including the six continental champions.

The UEFA Champions League-winning side go into the tournament in the semi-finals, with Copa Libertadores victors Flamengo doing the same on the other half of the bracket.

Auckland City and Al Ahly begin in the first-round while Al-Hilal, Wydad Casablanca, and Seattle Sounders enter in the second.

Real Madrid has won the trophy a leading four times and will play their opening fixture at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in capital city Rabat, which is also hosting the final.

Flamengo are due to play in the Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier which is due to host the opening match between the first-round teams.

Seattle Sounders won last year's Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football Champions League and as a result are making history.

The Major League Soccer team will become the first side from the United States to play in the tournament.

They beat the Pumas of Mexico 5-2 over two legs to achieve the historic feat.

After the host nation reached the World Cup semi-finals, further expectation has been put on Wydad Casablanca who are reigning Confederation of African Football Champions League champions.

"It's nice for Morocco - particularly after the World Cup we had - for people to see that there's football here, there are fans, and there are beautiful stadiums," said national team manager Walid Regragui.

"It's going to be fantastic for our country."

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced last December that from 2025, the Club World Cup will feature 32 teams and will be played quadrennially, replacing the Confederations Cup.
