Striker Edinson Cavani, who has scored 58 goals for his country, has been given a one-match ban, community service in football and a fine of CHF 15,000 (£13,200/$16,300/€15,000) for his misconduct following his team's 2-0 victory over the African nation, which was not enough to send them into the last 16 of the World Cup.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United striker punched a video assistant referee screen in frustration after the match. 

Earlier this month, Cavani claimed if he was to punished for punching the monitor, the World Cup referee from the match, Daniel Siebert, should be jailed.

He accused the referee of making mistakes in the match, with Siebert waving away penalty claims from Uruguay who needed to win by three to advance after South Korea scored an injury-time winner against Portugal in the other match.

Captain and most-capped Uruguayan in history, Diego Godín, has the same sanction, for harassing the referee post-match with Cavani.

Goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and defender José María Giménez are banned for four matches and have received CHF 20,000 (£17,600/$21,700/€20,000) fines, for aggressively confronting officials, including making physical contact with them and shouting in their faces.

The AUF's fine is CHF50,000 (£43,900/$43,400/€49,800) to go along with the partial stadium closure for "discriminatory behaviour of its supporters" and the "misconduct" of its players in the Ghana match, as given by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

Uruguay and Ghana previously played at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, with Luis Suárez infamously stopping a Ghanaian winner hitting the net with his hands.

After he was sent off, Ghana's Asamoah Gyan missed a penalty and the African team were denied a spot in the semi-finals when they lost in the shootout.
