Iceland and Poland were the latest teams to qualify for the main round of the International Handball Federation (IHF) World Championship with wins over South Korea and Saudi Arabia, respectively.

Iceland beat South Korea 38-25 while Poland edged Saudi Arabia 27-24.

Óðinn Þór Ríkharðsson was unstoppable for Iceland against the Asian side, netting 11 times.

Co-hosts Poland meanwhile had Arkadiusz Moryto on nine goals and Szymon Sićko on eight to thank as they came out on top in a thrilling encounter.

In the other games of the day, Brazil beat Cape Verde 30-28.

Both teams had already qualified for the main round but the victory means Brazil finish second in Group C and will start the main round with two points.

France won all three games, beating Slovenia 35-31.

France will enter the next stage as Group B winners and will start with four points while Slovenia will have two.

Spain was no match for Iran as the Europeans got a 35-22 win.

Portugal also had a night to remember after defeating Hungary 27-20.

They finished top of Group D with Iceland and Hungary on second and third respectively.

Sweden topped Group C as expected with a massive 47-12 win – the biggest of the competition so far - over Uruguay.

Montenegro finished second in Group A behind Spain, qualifying for the main round, after beating Chile 35-33.
