The first quarter between Wales and Spain saw plenty of chances created but no goals.

But Spain struck twice in the second quarter, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Marc Reyne opened the scoring for the Spaniards before skipper Álvaro Iglesias slotted after a brilliant team move.

Wales were not sitting back and tried to attack Spain in the second half, but the Redsticks capitalised on the defensive breaches to add two more.

A penalty corner was converted by Marc Miralles, before Reyne got his brace.

There was however a consolation for Wales as James Carson got one back in the 53rd minute.

But the celebrations were cut short four minutes later, as Miralles scored his second of the night to complete the rout.

"Happy with the 3 points today after the loss in the first game," Miralles said.

"We wanted today’s game to be perfect and we got close to it.

"Looking forward to the game against England next."

In another Pool D match, India and England could not find the back of the net despite multiple chances, including penalty corners.  

A lack of cutting edge meant that two teams had to share spoils.

Hardik Singh was the star player for the hosts.

Mandeep Singh did put the ball past the England keeper but the referee had already called for a foul.

For England, Phil Roper had the best chance to score but his flick went wide.

England are top of Pool D with four points and a goal difference if five.

India sit second with four points while Spain are on third with three points.
