The Stadium is being built by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), while the Solomon Islands National University Dormitory Buildings - which were also visited - are being constructed by JiangSu Provincial Construction Group Corporation (JPC).

RSIPF was led by assistant commissioner Simpson Pogeava, with the police force acknowledging the work of the CCECC and JPC providing employment opportunities to local residents.

"I am happy to have the opportunity to see the progress made for the construction of the Stadium and dormitory buildings which will offer great support for the 2023 Pacific Games," said Pogeava, according to the Solomon Star.

"We are very proud to see that Solomon Islands will have best sports facilities in the region and RSIPF will continue to secure the project."

Pogeava added police assistance to the Chinese companies would be reaffirmed, instructing Central Police and Guadalcanal Police to provide security support to keep the projects safe.

"These two projects are among several ongoing projects provided by China which are of great importance for the 2023 Pacific Games," said Chinese Embassy Economic and Commercial Counsellor Gong Rui.

"With the relationship developing between China and Solomon Islands, there will be more projects coming covering more areas such as medical and agricultural fields which will bring benefits to the local people and the Government of the Solomon Islands in the long run."

During the visit, the team leaders and management of both construction groups said they highly appreciated the support of the RSIPF.

The China Police Liaison Team was led by Commissioner Zhang Guangbao.

The Pacific Games are scheduled to take place from November 19 to December 2.

They were postponed from July last year due to preparations being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
