Technology company Microplus has been confirmed as the official provider of data-processing and timing services for the Lake Placid 2023 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games.

The deal was signed in Lausanne by FISU secretary general Eric Saintrond and Microplus chief executive Mauro Cedrani.

"Following the renewal of its image and positioning as a brand, FISU has started a new phase of promoting and developing long-term partnerships that can give additional support to Organising Committees of its events," FISU marketing director Christian Monzani said.

The agreement means the Microplus name will be displayed on television credits during coverage of the Winter Games.

The company first became involved with the event at Krasnoyarsk 2019 and the Summer Universiade in Napoli the same year.

The arrangement is also intended to help National University Sport Federations and future Organising Committees of FISU events by providing quality services below market cost.

"The partnership with Microplus is the first important example of this approach," Monzani added.

"We thank them for sharing with FISU their business goals and for the commitment, support and seriousness of the services they provide."

Microplus is also making a contribution to the Lake Placid 2023 "Save Winter" campaign which aims "to help and find possible solutions to climate changes that sadly afflict all countries worldwide", the company said.

Lake Placid 2023 is set to run from January 12 to 22.
