A session on "growing the table tennis industry" is set to launch the inaugural International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Summit set to take place in the Jordanian capital of Amman from December 4 to 6.

The first panel event aims at focusing on developing the professionalisation of the sport and how the governing body is looking to be part of the movement.

Special attention will be paid to the growth of World Table Tennis (WTT) as the commercial arm of the ITTF Group.

The second session is called "becoming a leading International Federation" and focuses on the results of an Association of Summer Olympic International Federations governance review.

Table tennis' future occupies the third session, "the sport of table tennis in 50 years", as the federation looks to anticipate how it will be adapted in the next half century.

Session four looks at how the ITTF can reduce its carbon footprint and continue to seek environmentally friendly solutions.

Another aspect will be how it can develop a social legacy "that helps connect table tennis with the world in a positive way."

The fifth session, "events for all", will focus on improvements being made to the calendar of events and how to develop WTT.

"The latest ITTF World Championships Finals and World Para Championships will be used as examples for how future events should be run, and how all competitions should aspire to have that level of quality," read an ITTF statement.

The final session called "home of table tennis" will be about a revamped bidding concept for upcoming events.

The ITTF Annual General Meeting is then scheduled to take place on the final day of the Summit.
