Three days of competition drew to a close in the United Arab Emirates' capital Abu Dhabi today, with France's Léo Bergère clinching a sensational men's world title at the expense of Britain's Alex Yee and New Zealand's Hayden Wilde.

Yesterday, Bermuda's Flora Duffy overcame Britain's Georgia Taylor-Brown to become the first woman to be crowned world champion four times.

Temperatures have risen above 30 degrees Celsius for afternoon races at the Championship Finals.

The season-ending event is usually held earlier in the year in September, as it will be next year in Pontevedra.

However, Spanish official Casado said that she believes Abu Dhabi is a city worthy of staging the Finals.

"I think Abu Dhabi is a very special place, especially when they organise big events," she told insidethegames.

"Our event here in Abu Dhabi is not the biggest one, but it was really very well done.

"We were lucky with the weather, because we were waiting until this date because it was too hot before.

"Yesterday I think was a little bit hot, but with the light and the water and everything, it is a beautiful place to do it and I think everybody really likes to be in Abu Dhabi.

"I think from the sport point of view, we arrived here without knowing who is going to win which is always fantastic for the sport."

Casado, who is also an International Olympic Committee member, was speaking after the Closing Ceremony, where she handed the World Triathlon flag to Pontevedra Mayor Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores and Spanish Triathlon Federation President José Hidalgo for next year's event.
