Indian boxers were dominant in today's women's finals at the Asian Boxing Championships as they secured four gold medals in Amman.

Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain looked assured as she won gold in her maiden appearance in the women's under-75 kilograms class.

Borgohain was joined as a champion by compatriots Parveen Hooda, Saweety and Alfiya Khan who prevailed in the under-63kg, under-81kg, and over-81kg tournaments, respectively.

Borgohain's result will be a big morale booster has she has struggled to find form since her podium finish at the postponed Olympics.

The 25-year-old made early exits at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games earlier this year.

Borgohain has moved up from the under-69kg division to her new weight class as under-69kg will not feature at Paris 2024.

Borgohain had won bronze at the 2017 and 2021 editions of the Asian Championships in the welterweight under-69kg category.

Parveen dispatched Japan's Kito Mai in her deciding bout as she won courtesy of a 5-0 points decision in the Jordanian capital.

Saweety and Alfiya then added to the medal haul with wins against Kazakhstan's Gulsaya Yerzhan and home favourite Islam Husaili, respectively.

Saweety won 5-0 while Alifiya's opponent was disqualified to give her a premature win in the first round.

India could have secured a fifth gold medal on the day but Minakshi, competing at the Asian Championships for the first year, fell at the hands of Japan's Kinoshita Rinka in the women's under-52kg final.

A slow start hindered her as she was on the losing end of a 4-1 split decision.

Karina Ibragimova, Alua Balkibekova and Zhaina Shekerbekova all won gold medals for Kazakhstan.

Asian Games champion Oh Yeon-ji from South Korea won a third continental title at under-60kg and Vietnam's Nguyễn Thị Tâm was the day's other gold medallist, beating Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Tsukimi Namiki from Japan at under-52kg.
