Chang Yani beat compatriot and reigning world champion Chen Yiwen in the women's 3 metres springboard final with a personal best score of 363.73.

The two performed five identical dives in the exact same order but errors in Chen's third and fourth proved decisive as she scored 346.95, 16.80 points off her countrywoman.

Japan's Sayaka Mikami made up the top three with 287.05 points for bronze.

"I'm satisfied with four of my rounds today, but two left me wanting more," said Chang.

"We're very good friends.

"After a competition, we don't care who wins - so long as it's one of us."

Yang Jian led another Chinese one-two, this time in the men's 10m platform final, ahead of Yang Hao.

The 28-year-old was a class above as he amassed 537.70 points, 65.50 more than his team-mate.

The defending world champion maintained a firm lead over all six rounds and scored more than 90 points in four of them, including an event-high 97.20 on his penultimate dive, a back 3½ pike.

"I was able to show a better performance here than I did in Budapest," he said.

"Of course, better does not mean the best.

"I have more and better performance that I can show."

American Brandon Loschiavo battled with Colombia's Sebastian Villa Castaneda for third place and ultimately prevailed with a score of 429.95.

Despite the medal, Loschiavo was left off the US mixed 3m and 10m team which sealed the final gold of the competition.

Kristen Hayden, Zachary Cooper, Tyler Downs, and Katrina Young combined to score 375.80 points, beating Germany and Australia on 370.85 and 356.65, respectively.
