Iraq and India both won their first medals at an International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Judo Grand Prix on the second day of competition in Nur-Sultan.

Taha Al-Gburi clinched a historic bronze for Iraq in the men's J1 under-90 kilograms category at the Jekpe-Jek Martial Arts Palace, a feat matched by India's Mukesh Rani in the women's J1 over-70kg.

The men's J1 under-90kg title went to Brazil's Arthur Silva, with silver going to Valerio Teodori of Italy.

Brazil were the top performers at the Grand Prix in Kazakhstan's capital, winning a total of five gold medals across the two days of competition.

Wilians Araújo won the men's J1 over-90kg event, with France's Jason Grandry and Moldova's Ion Basoc placing second and third, respectively.

The women's J1 under-70kg event was won by Brenda Freitas, with Turkey's Esmer Taşkın taking silver and Italy's Matilde Lauria bronze.

Rebeca Silva overcame Britain's Kirsten Taylor to take gold in the women's J2 over-70kg, with France's Prescillia Leze the bronze medallist.

Turkey added to their two gold medals from the first day courtesy of Nazan Güneş' victory over Brazil's Erika Zoaga in the women's J1 over-70kg final.

Gold went to Tokyo 2020 Paralympics bronze medallist Kazusa Ogawa in the other women's event on the second day, the J2 under-70kg.

Paralympic champion Vahid Nouri collected Iran's second gold of the Grand Prix, triumphing in the men's J2 over-90kg against Ibrahim Bolukbas of Turkey.

Bronze went to Christopher Skelley of Britain, the Paralympic champion at under-100kg.

Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Helios Latchoumanaya of France was the other winner at the Grand Prix, beating Iran's Seyed Jafari to take gold in the men's J2 under-90kg.

Two-time Paralympic medallist Sharif Khalilov of Uzbekistan took bronze.

In total, 18 of the 21 countries taking part in Nur-Sultan had a podium finish.

IBSA Judo Grand Prix are being staged under a new classification system, with athletes split into J1 and J2 categories.

J1 competitors are partially sighted, while J2 athletes are blind.

São Paulo in Brazil is due to stage the next Grand Prix on July 2 and 3.
