Turkey lead the medals table at the halfway stage of the Grand Prix at the Jekpe-Jek Martial Arts Palace, winning two golds courtesy of Merve Uslu and Çelik.

Çelik came out on top in the women's J2 under-57 kilograms category, with fellow Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Lúcia Araújo finishing second and Kazakhstan's Dayana Fedossova third.

Uslu prevailed in the women's J1 under-57kg, with Germany's Vanessa Wagner and Italy's Asia Giordano also claiming medals.

Akmaral Nauatbek was host nation Kazakhstan's sole gold medallist on the first day at the Grand Prix, winning in the women's J2 under-48kg category.

Switzerland's Carmen Brussig, a former Paralympic champion representing Germany, finished second, with Brazil's Giulia Pereira placing third.

Rosicleidi Silva of Brazil was the other winner in the women's events, triumphing in the J1 under-48kg.

Anna Muller of Germany placed second, with Kyrgyzstan's Khaiitkhon Kyzy completing the top three.

Bologa of Romania claimed gold in men's J1 under-73kg category, with Kazakhstan's Yergai Shamey taking silver and Brazil's Harlley Arruda bronze.

Iran's Seyed Abadi earned men's J1 under-60kg gold, staving off a challenge from silver medallist Abdurrahim Ozalp of Turkey and bronze medallist Elielton Oliveira of Brazil.

Rio 2016 gold medallist Sherzod Namozov of Uzbekistan was the top performer in the men's J2 under-60kg, with Thiego Marques of Brazil having to settle for silver and South Korea's Lee Min-jae bronze.

The day's other winner was Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Seto of Japan, who triumphed in the men's J2 under-73kg.

Kazakhstan's Olzhas Orazalyuly earned silver, while Rio 2016 bronze medallist Nikolai Kornhass of Germany placed third.

Competition is due to conclude in Nur-Sultan tomorrow with the women's J1 and J2 under-70kg and over-70kg events, as well as the men's J1 and J2 under-90kg and over-90kg.
