Jesper Pedersen of Norway became the only athlete to win four gold medals at the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics, triumphing in the men's slalom sitting event at the Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Centre.

Only a second-place finish to New Zealand's Corey Peters in the downhill denied Pedersen a clean sweep of titles.

He went into the second run with a 0.60sec advantage over The Netherlands' Jeroen Kampschreur after clocking 41.19.

However, with the sitting class the last of the day's events, skiers found the conditions increasingly difficult on their second runs.

Fourth-placed Takeshi Suzuki of Japan crashed out, before Italy's Renè De Silvestro posted 56.22 in an error-strewn run.

Kampschreur was also unable to finish, leaving the 1min 37.18sec set by his compatriot Niels de Langen as the time to beat.

Pedersen delivered a 49.91 effort on his second run to finish 6.08 clear.

Pedersen was the sole athlete to win four golds at Beijing 2022, although Arthur Bauchet of France was among those who fell one short of that tally, liewise Japan's Momoka Muraoka in the women's sitting class.

Bauchet dominated the men's slalom standing event today to follow up his victories in the downhill and super combined.

It has been a Games to remember for the 21-year-old, after he had to settle for four silvers at Pyeongchang 2018.

The slalom world champion held a lead of more than two seconds over the defending champion Adam Hall of New Zealand and almost three seconds over third-placed Liang Jingyi of China after a first run of 40.38sec.

Super-G champion Liang moved above Hall after posting the best of the second runs in 49.01, but Bauchet had a healthy cushion, and made sure of gold with a 49.23 effort.

Bauchet finished in 1min 29.61sec, which was 2.66 clear of Liang and 3.60 ahead of Hall.

Thursday's (March 10) giant slalom winner Santeri Kiiveri of Finland and Austria's Thomas Grochar, who placed fourth and fifth respectively after the first run, were among the 11 athletes who failed to complete the second run.

In the men's vision impaired class, Italy's Giacomo Bertagnolli made it back-to-back Paralympic titles after edging Austrian teenage sensation Johannes Aigner to gold.

This was Bertagnolli's second win at Beijing 2022 following his super combined triumph on Monday (March 7).

It was a close battle between the defending champion and Aigner, the downhill and giant slalom winner, with Bertagnolli holding a 0.60 lead at the halfway stage after a 39.62 first run.

Aigner applied the pressure on the leader with a 46.88 on the second run helping him to finish in 1:27.10.

Bertagnolli's advantage was trimmed to 0.28 after a 47.20 second attempt, but his 1:26.82 final time proved a winning time.

The silver for the Austrian ensured he finished the Games having medalled in all five disciplines, while the performances of his sisters Veronika and Barbara mean the family achieved nine podium finishes at Beijing 2022.

Slovakia's Miroslav Haraus followed up Thursday's (March 10) giant slalom bronze with another third-place finish in 1:36.22

Hosts China, France, Japan and Slovakia all won three golds in the sport.
